Ancient temples and religions, restless sands, vibrant cities, the timeless Nile, golden beaches – Egypt offers all of this and more. Words or pictures can’t describe the enormity of the pyramids, a traditional felucca sailing in the soft Nile breeze, the excitement of the bazaars, the fascinating temples of Upper Egypt or the villages of the Nile Valley – unchanged since pharaonic times, or the Monasteries dating from the third century. On the Land of the Pharaohs tour you’ll spend 4 days in Cairo during which you’ll visit the Pyramids and Sphinx, the Egyptian Museum, the Khan el Khalili Bazaar and Coptic Cairo. We’ll also escort you on a short walk through the streets of old Islamic Cairo so that you can experience the true atmosphere and culture of this exciting city, take you into a mosque, and to the shopping streets of Tal’at Harb in Cairo and in Alexandria.

After transferring to Luxor we visit the Valley of Kings, the incredible Temples of Karnak, Luxor and Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon. We then board our luxury Nile Cruise Ship for a 5-day cruise to Aswan. On-board entertainment, shore visits to the Temples of Horus (Edfu) and Sobek (Kom Ombo), and the villages and palm groves along the banks, ensure an interesting cruise.

From our resort-style hotel in Aswan we visit the High Dam, the Unfi nished Obelisk, and the Temple of Philae on Isis Island. A leisure day allows time for a visit to Abu Simbel or to explore this quiet town.

We then return to Cairo. Saving the best till last, we visit the Egyptian National Museum which contains treasures collected from the sites we have previously visited on the tour.

This tour is intended for those discerning travellers who enjoy added luxury, the finest hotels, and flawless service standards. To ensure this we have included palatial hotels such as the Winter Palace in Luxor, the Oberoi Mena House in Cairo, the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan, and the Helnan Palestine in Alexandria. You’ll be met on arrival at Cairo airport and transferred to the historical Mena House near the pyramids of Giza for three nights. After visiting the Pyramids, the Sphinx, the Museum and Bazaars of Cairo you fly to Aswan where you’ll spend one night in the Old Cataract Hotel on the banks of the Nile. Agatha Christie stayed here. While in Aswan an Egyptologist guide will accompany you to the Temple of Ramses at Abu Simbel, to the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk, and by boat across Lake Nasser to the Temple of Philae. You’ll then board the luxury Sonesta Sun Goddess for three nights and cruise to Luxor. While in Luxor stay at the Old Winter Palace, the winter home of ex King Farouk. Once again an Egyptologist guide will escort you into the Valley of the Kings and the Temples of the West and East Bank. Then return to Cairo. This time stay at the Marriott in Downtown Cairo.

Extend your experience of Egypt with a visit to Alexandria. Transfer by road to this Mediterranean city. See the Catacombs, Pompey’s Pillar, Fort Kaitbay and the Greco-Roman Museum. And you’ll have an entire day at leisure for a visit to the New Library of Alexandria, its associated exhibitions, or to shop in the central city. Return to Cairo via El Alamein.
