This exciting 19-day adventure crosses the continent. Commencing in Buenos Aires, the city of tango, and finishing in Lima, founded in 1535 and known then as the ‘City of the Kings’.
After visiting the sites of Buenos Aires and experiencing this cosmopolitan city, transfer to the magnificent Iguassu Falls for two nights. Then, by air, transfer to Salta, located in the centre of the Argentinean winelands. After seeing this colonial city and tasting some of the exquisite wines of the region, the journey continues north into Bolivia, a landlocked country high on the Andean Altiplano. Here the soaring, snow-capped mountain peaks, the desolate salt lakes and incredible landscapes of the Altiplano are sure to leave lasting memories. After visiting La Paz, the world’s highest capital city, we cross Lake Titicaca to Copacabana, Puno and on to Cuzco, the major centre of the Incas. A full day excursion by First Class train and bus takes you to Machu Picchu. After returning to Cuzco with a leisure day to explore the Indian market, fly to Lima for your return or onward flight.

If a lot of leisure time appeals to you, then this tour can’t be beaten. We’ll meet you on your arrival in each city and transfer you to a centrally located hotel. Some guided day-tours, to places difficult to reach on your own, are included but, mostly, you’ll be able to explore, discover or relax in Saigon, Hoi An, Hue and Hanoi at your own pace.

 

Includes: All airport-hotel transfers, 10 nights hotel accommodation, meals as indicated, English speaking local guides, entry fees to included sites, a/c coach touring.

ITINERARY
 

Day 1: Saigon
You are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for 3 nights. Rest of day at leisure.
 

Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnels   [B]
A morning visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an ingenuous network that enabled the VietCong to reach within 60km of Saigon during the 1960’s. Return to Saigon and see the Re-Unification Palace, China Town and the shopping markets of DongKhoi.
 

Day 3: Mekong River   [B]
Today we include a tour to the Mekong River. Here you’ll board a boat to cross to sleepy island villages and floating markets. Afternoon return to Saigon
 

Day 4: Saigon   [B]
A full day at leisure in Saigon
 

Day 5: Hoi An   [B]
Transfers and flight to Da Nang and road transfer to the medieval city of Hoi An. Remainder of day at leisure.
 

Day 6: Hoi An   [B]
The day is at leisure. You may wish to explore this small but unusual city, finding ancient houses and the Japanese Bridge, or visit nearby China Beach for a swim, or hire a small motorbike or bicycle to explore further affield.
 

Day 7: Hue   [B]
Road transfer from Hoi An, over the scenic Hai Van Pass, to Hue. After check-in the day is at leisure.
 

Day 8: Hue  [B]
The day is at leisure but you may wish to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda, or hire a boat to cruise the Perfume River, our board a cyclo-ped and explore the ancient Citadel.
 

Day 9: Hanoi   [B]
Transfers and flight to Hanoi and an afternoon guided tour to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Stilt House and One-Pillar Pagoda.
 

Day 10: Halong Bay   [BLD]
After breakfast drive to Halong Bay and board a sailing Junk for cruising amongst the 3000 islands. Meals and overnight on board
 

Day 11: Hanoi   [B]
Continue sailing and midday disembarkation. Return to Hanoi for 2 nights.
 

Day 12: Hanoi   [B]
A day at leisure in Hanoi
 

Day 13: Departure   [B]
Transfer to Hanoi airport for your onward travel
