Cycling includes city streets and quiet rural roads, mostly either level or with slight gradients. The tour is supported and accompanied by an English speaking tour guide, a cycle mechanic and accompanied by a comfortable coach with driver. The selected route covers several scenic regions, local villages, relaxed beaches, historic towns and temples, visits to craft workshops and an overnight cruise on Ha long Bay. Includes: 15 nights hotel accommodation at 3* standard, meals as indicated, entry fees to included sights, bicycle and helmet rental, purified mineral water on cycling days, English speaking tour escort, vehicle supported cycling, cycle maintenance man, domestic flight SGN-HUI/DAD-HAN. Not included: International flight, visas, travel insurance, tipping, personal expenses.
ITINERARY Day 1: Ho Chi Ming City/Saigon [D] You are met on arrival at HCMC and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of day at leisure until a group dinner at eight. Day 2: City tour [BL] Morning cycling to several nearby examples of French colonial architecture- the Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Office, the Reunification Palace and the History Museum. Lunch at a local restaurant. Continue into Chinatown to see the Thien Hau Temple. On return to the city we stop at an ice-cream shop, with the rest of the day at leisure. Day 3: AnBinh Island [BLD] After breakfast departure by bus and ferry to AnBinh Island where we cycle along village paths and visit local villages. At CaiCuong, an historic house, we attend a traditional music performance, then cycle through the bonsai garden. Overnight is a ‘home-stay with a local family. Day 4: Mekong Delta [BLD] Return to the mainland by ferry and cycle through several local villages to the floating markets of Can Tho. En-route we visit the Temple of Literature, local craft workshops and ancient pagodas. Afternoon return to HCMC by bus and overnight. (45km cycling today) Day 5: Hue [BD] The morning is at leisure in Saigon. Afternoon transfers and flight to Hue and check-in for 2 nights. This evening we attend a ‘Royal Performance’ of music and dancing. Day 6: Hue [BLD] Board a ferry and sail on the Huong River to the Thien Mu Pagoda and Tu Duc tomb, then cycle to the historic Khai Dinh Tomb. Continue into the ancient Citadel by bus with en-route. Afternoon at leisure in Hue. Day 7: Hoi An [BL] A morning ride along Thuan An Beach to the local villages of VinhThai and VihnHien (48km). We then cross the Truong Ha Bridge and cycle along Lang Co Beach for lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon cycling on a section of the Hai Van Pass followed by coach transfer to Hoi An for 3 nights. Day 8: Hoi An [BL] We cycle across CamNam Island, seeing local villages and craft shops making basket ware, rice paper and wood carving. Stop for a coffee at a traditional shipyard then return through rice paddies to the beautiful Long Tuyen Pagoda and a small restaurant for lunch. Afternoon at leisure, Day 9: Hoi An [B] A morning tour of Hoi An visits the Phuoc Kein Pagoda, Tan Ky House and the old Japanese Bridge. Afternoon at leisure but you may cycle to Cua Dai Beach for a swim. Day 10: Hanoi [BLD] After breakfast we drive to Da Nang and visit the French build Cham Museum. Afternoon flight to Hanoi and check in for 3 nights. Rest of day at leisure. Day 11: Hanoi [BLD] We explore the centre of the Old City by bicycle, seeing the daily life of the local people. We stop at the Dong Xuan Market, ride along the shores of the Lake and visit the Ngoc Son Temple. Lunch at our hotel. Afternoon visit a traditional Water-Puppet Show. Day 12: Hanoi [BL] During the morning we cycle to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the One-Pillar Pagoda, the Stilt House and the 11thC. Temple of Literature. After lunch at a local restaurant we continue, by bus, to the Ethnology Museum. Late afternoon and evening at leisure. Day 13: HaiPhong [BL] Board our coach and drive to ThuyNguyen, a centre of the Betel-Nut industry. From here we cycle to local villages where the nut is produced and dried. We pass through vegetable gardens and meet the people, then continue to flower market in HaiPhong. Afternoon return by bicycle to our hotel. Day 14: Halong Bay [BLD] We transfer by coach to HaLong Bay take a cycling tour of Halong city and CamPha town. After lunch we board our Sailing Junk for cruising and overnight on scenic Halong Bay. Day 15: Halong- Hanoi [BL] Morning sailing on the bay and afternoon return to Hanoi by coach. Check-in and overnight. Day 16: Departure [B] Leisure time until transfer to the airport for return flight. |
