In Saigon you’ll see the grand French architecture, Chinese Pagodas and local markets before leaving for the incredible Floating Markets of the Mekong. Then visit the ingenuous Cu Chi Tunnels before visiting medieval Hoi An and the quaint city of Hue located on the Perfume River. In Hanoi we explore the heart of the Old Quarter and the sites associated with Ho Chi Minh, then drive to beautiful Halong Bay for an overnight cruise amongst the 3000 islands. Includes: All airport-hotel transfers, 11 nights hotel accommodation, meals as indicated, English speaking local guides, entry fees to included sites, a/c coach touring. ITINERARY Day 1: Saigon [D] You are met on arrival at Ho Chi Minh airport and transferred to your hotel for 2 nights. Day 2: Saigon [BLD] A full day, guided tour visits the Presidential Palace, the War Museum and Notre Dame Cathedral. After lunch at a local restaurant continue to the Temples and pagodas of Chinatown and the Binh Tay markets. Day 3: Mekong Delta [BLD] Depart and drive to CaiBe where you board a boat for an excursion to the floating markets of the Mekong. Cruise to VinhLong to visit a pottery and rice papermaking workshop, and lunch, then transfer to Can Tho for overnight. Day 4: Mekong River [BLD] After breakfast take a trip, by boat, on the Mekong to the crowded CaiRang floating market, then return to Can Tho for lunch and afternoon return to Saigon for 2 nights. Day 5: Cu Chi Tunnels [BLD] A day trip by coach to the Cu Chi Tunnels, excavated by the Vietcong to infiltrate to within 60km of Saigon. Afternoon return to hotel in HCMC/Saigon. Day 6: Hoi An [BLD] Transfers and flight to Da Nang. A brief visit to the Cham Museum and China Beach is followed by transfer to the UNESCO listed, medieval city of Hoi An. Evening at leisure in this charming city. Day 7: Hoi An [BLD] On a walking tour through the ancient streets of Hoi An we see the Japanese Bridge, a 16thC Merchant’s House and the Chinese Pagoda. Afternoon at leisure. Day 8: Hue [BLD] Transfer by coach to Hue over the scenic Hai Van Pass that separated north and south Vietnam. On the summit you’ll see the American fortifications. On arrival in Hue board a cycloped for a tour of the Citadel followed by a guided visit to Thien Mu Pagoda overlooking the Perfume River. Day 9: Hanoi [BLD] During the morning visit the tomb complexes of Emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Afternoon flight to Hanoi and check-in for 2 nights. Late afternoon transfer and entry to a traditional Water-Puppet Show. Day 10: Hanoi [BLD] Get to know Hanoi and its history through a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Stilt House and One Tree Pagoda, followed by a guided walking tour through the heart of the Old City. Day 11: Halong Bay [BLD] After breakfast drive to Halong Bay and board a comfortable Junk for overnight. Cruise amongst the bay’s 3000 islands. Day 12: Hanoi [B] Morning sailing in Halong Bay and afternoon return to Hanoi airport for late afternoon onward flight. |
