Circuit 4

Argentina- Bolivia- Peru

Small group departure

14 Oct 2011

This exciting 19-day adventure crosses the continent. Commencing in Buenos Aires, the city of tango, and finishing in Lima, founded in 1535 and known then as the ‘City of the Kings’.
After visiting the sites of Buenos Aires and experiencing this cosmopolitan city, transfer to the magnificent Iguassu Falls for two nights. Then, by air, transfer to Salta, located in the centre of the Argentinean winelands. After seeing this colonial city and tasting some of the exquisite wines of the region, the journey continues north into Bolivia, a landlocked country high on the Andean Altiplano. Here the soaring, snow-capped mountain peaks, the desolate salt lakes and incredible landscapes of the Altiplano are sure to leave lasting memories. After visiting La Paz, the world’s highest capital city, we cross Lake Titicaca to Copacabana, Puno and on to Cuzco, the major centre of the Incas. A full day excursion by First Class train and bus takes you to Machu Picchu. After returning to Cuzco with a leisure day to explore the Indian market, fly to Lima for your return or onward flight.

This tour of Chile includes visits to regions that can justifiably claim to have the world’s most beautiful scenery. From the world’s driest desert to the world’s greatest glaciers, Chile is an incredibly beautiful country.
The route commences in Santiago where you’ll find some excellent examples of Spanish colonial architecture and, ascending San Cristobal Hill, incredible views across the city to the Andean peaks beyond. We then head south to the Atacama Desert- the world’s driest desert, and a centre of Indian culture and tradition, then still further south to the Lake District surrounding the towns of Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas. From here we journey inland, to the pristine shores of Lake Llanquihue, the rapids of Petrohue and the Vicente Perez Rosales Nat. Park, and to Punta Arenas where we visit the enormous colony of penguins. We then turn northwards, to Puerto Natales and the Torres del Paine Nat. Park (Voted the world’s best national park in October 2009). Surrounded by snow capped mountain peaks, lakes and forests, you will agree- there is no place in the world more beautiful than Chile.
