This exciting 19-day adventure crosses the continent. Commencing in Buenos Aires, the city of tango, and finishing in Lima, founded in 1535 and known then as the ‘City of the Kings’.
After visiting the sites of Buenos Aires and experiencing this cosmopolitan city, transfer to the magnificent Iguassu Falls for two nights. Then, by air, transfer to Salta, located in the centre of the Argentinean winelands. After seeing this colonial city and tasting some of the exquisite wines of the region, the journey continues north into Bolivia, a landlocked country high on the Andean Altiplano. Here the soaring, snow-capped mountain peaks, the desolate salt lakes and incredible landscapes of the Altiplano are sure to leave lasting memories. After visiting La Paz, the world’s highest capital city, we cross Lake Titicaca to Copacabana, Puno and on to Cuzco, the major centre of the Incas. A full day excursion by First Class train and bus takes you to Machu Picchu. After returning to Cuzco with a leisure day to explore the Indian market, fly to Lima for your return or onward flight.

ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Tunis [D]

You are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 2: Carthage [BD]

During the morning your guide will take you to the sights of the city visiting the Bardo Museum , and strolling through the Medina . You then depart for Cathage and visit the extensive Roman site. Continue to Sidi Bou Said, a magnificent Moorish village, before returning to Tunis for dinner at the Restaurant Dar Bel Hadj.

 

Day 3: Tozeur [BD]

A 400km drive to Kairouan, the first Islamic settlement in North Africa . Here we visit the great mosque of Okba ibn Nafaa, the Aghlabiden Pools and Barbier Mausoleum. Continue to Tozeur, one of the Sahara 's most famous oasis. Overnight surrounded by over 400,000 palm trees.

 

Day 4: Sahara Desert [BD]

After breakfast departure by 4x4 vehicle to the mountain oasis of Chebika-Tamerza-Midas. We visit villages, explore canyons, pass through sand dunes and palm groves. Return to Tozeur for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 5: Douz [BD]

Today drive to Kebili via Chott el Jerid, a salt lake, and small oasis to Kebeli, then to Douz. This is the gateway to the true Sahara . During the afternoon we drive into the sand dunes with the possibility of a camel ride.

 

Day 6: Sfax [BD]

We watch the sunrise before driving to Matmata, a typical troglodyte village (some Star Wars sequences were filmed here). We continue to Gabes on the Gulf of Syrta , then to Sfax for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 7: Hammamet [BD]

Breakfast and departure for El Jem where we visit the 2ndC Amphitheatre. At Monastir we see the mausoleum and, at Sousse the medina. Overnight in Hammatmet.

 

Day 8: Departure [B]

After breakfast transfer to Tunis airport for your onward flight.
