This exciting 19-day adventure crosses the continent. Commencing in Buenos Aires, the city of tango, and finishing in Lima, founded in 1535 and known then as the ‘City of the Kings’.
After visiting the sites of Buenos Aires and experiencing this cosmopolitan city, transfer to the magnificent Iguassu Falls for two nights. Then, by air, transfer to Salta, located in the centre of the Argentinean winelands. After seeing this colonial city and tasting some of the exquisite wines of the region, the journey continues north into Bolivia, a landlocked country high on the Andean Altiplano. Here the soaring, snow-capped mountain peaks, the desolate salt lakes and incredible landscapes of the Altiplano are sure to leave lasting memories. After visiting La Paz, the world’s highest capital city, we cross Lake Titicaca to Copacabana, Puno and on to Cuzco, the major centre of the Incas. A full day excursion by First Class train and bus takes you to Machu Picchu. After returning to Cuzco with a leisure day to explore the Indian market, fly to Lima for your return or onward flight.

A tour that has it all! Not only will you experience indigenous Indian cultures in the deep Amazon Forest and dry Atacama Desert, but also discover the cosmopolitan cities of Buenos Aires and Rio, and the rich colonial history of Lima, Santiago and Mendoza. We also add Cusco and Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, the High Andes and the amazing Iguassu Falls.

ITINERARY
 

Day 1: Lima
You are met on arrival at Lima airport and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of day at leisure.


Day 2: Lima   [B]
A full day at leisure to relax after the flight or explore Lima on your own.


Day 3: Yucay   [B]
After breakfast flight to Cuzco. You are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel in the Urubamba Valley near the Indian towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo. We visit the Pisac Indian Market and the Incan sites at Ollantaytambo during the afternoon.


Day 4: Machu Picchu   [B]
Board the train to Aguas Calientes, then small buses to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. After an extensive, guided visit we return to Cuzco for two nights.


Day 5: Cuzco   [B]
The morning is at leisure in Cuzco. An afternoon tour includes visits to Plaza de Armas and the cathedral, then to the Incan sites of Sacsayhuaman, Tambo Machay and Kenko.


Day 6: Puno   [BL]
A full day bus journey leads through the Peruvian Highlands, past snow-covered peaks and mountain passes that reach 4300 m above sea level. En-route we visit local villages and lesser known Incan ruins. We reach Puno located on the shores of Lake Titicaca and check in for two nights.


Day 7: Lake Titicaca   [B]
 A full day excursion by boat takes us to the Uros floating islands and villages of the Aymara Indians. On Taquile Island, we disembark to view the sites and meet the locals, many of whom still wear traditional dress.


Day 8:  Lima   [B]
After a morning flight to Lima we visit the beautiful colonial buildings of Lima. We see the government Palace, the Cathedral and the San Francisco Monastery before proceeding to the modern suburbs of San Isodoro and Miraflores. Overnight.


Day 9: Amazon   [BLD]
Transfers and flight to Iquitos in the heart of the Amazon Basin. After a brief orientation board a boat for the 40km journey down the Amazon to the Ceiba Tops Lodge. An afternoon jungle hike is followed by flute and guitar music in the bar.


Day 10: Amazon   [BLD]
Includes activities from the Lodge include visits to two Indian villages and river cruises to watch dolphins and other wildlife.
 

Day 11: Amazon   [BLD]
Today we follow the narrow road to the crossing of the Amazon and Napa Rivers, then by boat to ExplorNapa Lodge. From here we hike the spectacular half-kilometre Canopy Walkway, up to 35m above ground level, followed by a visit to an indigenous Botanical Garden. Return to Ceiba Tops.
 

Day 12: Lima   [B]
After a morning stroll in the forest we transfer to the airport and return to Lima for overnight. 
 

Day 13: Santiago  [B]
Transfers and flight to Santiago (this flight not includes). You are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.
 

Day 14: Atacama   [B]
A morning flight to the town of Calama in the Atacama Desert. An afternoon tour includes a tour on foot of San Pedro de Atacama, a colonial town established in 1577. The town still has strong Indian traditions.
 

Day 15: Atacama   [BL]
A full day excursion visits the Salar de Atacama, a huge salt lake, the lagoons and the Indian village of Toconao.
 

Day 16: Atacama   [B]
A full day at leisure allows time for personal exploration, or you may take an optional tour to the El Tatio Geysers and the hot water springs at Banos de Puritama.
 

Day 17: Santiago  [B]
We return to Santiago and join an afternoon city tour, visiting the Church of San Francisco built in 1572, the suburbs of Bario Paris and Londres, Plaza de Armas and San Cristobel Hill.
 

Day 18: Santiago   [B]
A full day at leisure, or you may join an optional excursion to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar.
 

Day 19: Mendoza   [B]
An exciting day as we board the inter-city coach and cross the Andes into Argentina. The road passes some of the highest peaks, local villages and ski fields. On reaching Mendoza, a major wine producing region, we check in at our hotel for two nights.
 

Day 20: Mendoza   [B]
During the morning we escort you on a tour to visit the many colonial buildings of this city. Afternoon at leisure or you may take an optional visit to a vineyard or two.
 

Day 21: Buenos Aires   [B]
After a morning flight and check in at our city-centre hotel, join a tour visiting the fine colonial buildings of the city and the districts of Recoleta and La Boca. It is certain that you will see locals dancing the tango in public.
 

Day 22: Buenos Aires   [B]
A full day at leisure, or you may join an optional visit to a traditional, working Estancia, seeing gauchos at work. Lunch is includes. On return we stop in San Telmo.
 

Day 23: Buenos Aires   [B]
A half-day excursion takes you to San Isidro, a suburb of luxury mansions on the banks of the River Plate. We also take a short river cruise to the delta of the Plate and Parana Rivers. Afternoon at leisure.

 

Day 24: Iguassu   [B]
Transfers and flight to Iguassu followed by a visit to the Argentinean side of the Falls. The visit includes walks along the catwalks and a ride on the Jungle Train to view the Devil’s Throat.
 

Day 25: Iguassu   [B]
Today we visit the Brazilian side of the Falls, following the paths that lead almost to the base of the Devil’s Throat.
 

Day 26:  Rio de Janeiro   [B]
Transfers and flight to Rio. On arrival we transfer you to your hotel. An afternoon tour includes the highlights of Downtown, where colonial Rio meets modern skyscrapers. We continue to Flamengo Park and. From here, ascend Sugarloaf Mountain by cable car.
 

Day 27: Rio de Janiera   [B]
A full day at leisure in exciting Rio, or participate in a selection of optional excursions. We particularly recommend the Rio by Night tour.
 

Day 28: Departure   [B]
After breakfast transfer to the airport for onward or return flight.
