Includes: airport transfers, 5* centrally located hotels, 3* local hotels in eastern Turkey, Breakfast daily, 10 dinners, A/C transfers and touring, English speaking tour escort and guide, entry fees, flight from GZT – IST on day 14. Not included: entry visa to Turkey, tipping, drinks with meals, optional activities.
ITINERARY Day 1: Istanbul You are met on arrival at Istanbul airport and transferred to your hotel. Welcome briefing before dinner. Day 2: Istanbul [B] A full day, guided tour visits Topkapi Palace, the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, St Sophia and the Grand Bazaar. Optional evening Belly Dance show with dinner.
Day 3: Gallipoli [BD] Morning drive to Gallipoli where we visit ANZAC cove, the Gaba Tepe War Museum, Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair. Late ferry across the Dardanelles to our hotel in Canakkale. Day 4: Troy-Kusadasi [BD] We visit Troy before driving the ancient medical centre at Pergamum and to our hotel at Kusadasi for two nights. Day 5: Ephesus [BD] A morning guided visit to Ephesus, arguably the best preserved of all ancient cities. Afternoon at leisure. Day 6: Pamukkale [BD] The road to Pamukkale passes through fertile fields. On arrival we visit the famous calcium pools and the thermal baths of Hieropolis. Overnight at our spa-hotel. Day 7: Antalya [BD] Drive to the coast at Antalya during the morning with an en-route visit to the ancient city of Perge. Afternoon at leisure on the coast. Day 8: Antalya [BD] A full day at leisure. Optional yacht cruising along the Turquoise Coast. Day 9: Konya [BD] We stop at the huge, ancient theatre of Aspendos as we drive onto the Anatolian Plateau. On arrival in Konya we visit the Mevlana Mausoleum and the Karatay Medrassa. Day 10: Cappadocia [BD] As we drive to Cappadocia we visit the 13thC caravanserai of Agzikarahan. On arrival in ‘the land of fairy chimneys’, we explore the underground city of Sarhatli and a local vineyard. Optional evening whirling dervish performance. Day 11: Cappadocia [BD] Optional early morning hot air balloon flight. After breakfast we visit several viewing places to see the fairy chimneys and the towns of Avanos, Pasabagi and Goreme. Day 12: Mt Nemrut [BD] After breakfast departure, first for the caravanserai of Karatayan and the village of Kahramanmaras. Continue to Kahta for overnight. Day 13: Urfa & Harran [BLD] An early start for the drive to the summit of Mt Nemrut to watch the sun rise across Anatolia with free time to see the colossal statues of past kings and gods. Later we drive via Arsemia and the Roman-period bridge at Cendere to Sanliurfa and Harran to see the strange bee-hive-like local architecture.
Day 14: Istanbul [B] Transfer to Gaziantep airport and flight to Istanbul. We are met on arrival and transferred to our historic-category hotel in the Old City.
Day 15: Istanbul [B] A full day at leisure in Istanbul.
Day 16: Departure [B] Transfer to the airport for your onward travel. |
