This exciting 19-day adventure crosses the continent. Commencing in Buenos Aires, the city of tango, and finishing in Lima, founded in 1535 and known then as the ‘City of the Kings’.
After visiting the sites of Buenos Aires and experiencing this cosmopolitan city, transfer to the magnificent Iguassu Falls for two nights. Then, by air, transfer to Salta, located in the centre of the Argentinean winelands. After seeing this colonial city and tasting some of the exquisite wines of the region, the journey continues north into Bolivia, a landlocked country high on the Andean Altiplano. Here the soaring, snow-capped mountain peaks, the desolate salt lakes and incredible landscapes of the Altiplano are sure to leave lasting memories. After visiting La Paz, the world’s highest capital city, we cross Lake Titicaca to Copacabana, Puno and on to Cuzco, the major centre of the Incas. A full day excursion by First Class train and bus takes you to Machu Picchu. After returning to Cuzco with a leisure day to explore the Indian market, fly to Lima for your return or onward flight.

Termed “Kingdom of the Sun” Peru encompasses the essence of America and “the new world” in geography and in its mix of native Indian and European cultures. The traditional way of life of the Indians still retains validity and the landscape contrasts represent possibly one of best destinations scenically in the Americas. The Spanish conquistadors landed and preceded to ruthlessly search for gold, but never found the most illusive prize; “the Lost City of the Incas”. Machu Picchu; a world heritage built site, is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after destinations and continues to hold a sense of mystique for the traveller. The surrounding landscapes of Cuzco, Lake Titicaca with the “floating islands” built of reeds, and the continued presence of the Uros Indians in this habitat, add to the uniqueness of Peru. The amazing variety of stunning landscape places Peru in the top of the list of the most spectacular countries on earth. Of 103 possible ecological zones internationally, 83 are represented in Peru.

Fifteen days of incredible scenery, Indian markets, colonial Spanish Architecture and, to top it off, a visit to the amazing Lost City of the Inca at Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, Cuzco and the Nazca Lines. Once the colonial capital, Cuzco still boasts remnants of one of the Inca’s most important buildings, the Temple of the Sun. Also known as the Korikancha, the temple now forms part of the Spanish Church of Santo Domingo. After returning to Lima for overnight we travel north to the enigmatic Nazca Lines.
