Chile is squeezed between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean with a maximum width of 44 kilometres and a uniquely narrow coastal length of 4.300 kilometres. The natural beauty of Chile is extremely rich and original and, with the population very friendly, makes it an attractive destination. The driest desert in the world; the Atacama Desert, the emerald green of Lake Todas de Santos, spectacular and abundant forests; Torres del Paine National Park, fantastic glaciers and fjords are a few of the remarkable natural treasures of Chile. It has one of the highest developed economies in South America and a culture evolved through its ancestral history along with a European influence as seen in the people and in the architecture of the towns and cities. The city of Santiago represents many contrasts between the Colonial and the ultra-modern. Puerto Varas; the ‘City of Roses’ enjoys reflected views of Osorno Volcano, perpetually snow-capped, in the waters of Lago Llanquihue. Punta Arenas, on the shores of the Magellan Strait, maintains a unique status in that it is one of the most southern cities of the world.

We then head south to the Atacama Desert- the world’s driest desert, and a centre of Indian culture and tradition, then still further south to the Lake District surrounding the towns of Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas. From here we journey inland, to the pristine shores of Lake Llanquihue, the rapids of Petrohue and the Vicente Perez Rosales Nat. Park, and to Punta Arenas where we visit the enormous colony of penguins. We then turn northwards, to Puerto Natales and the Torres del Paine Nat.
