Bolivia

Landlocked in the very heart of the continent and unspoilt by modern development, Bolivia has the most indigenous population of any South American country with more than half the inhabitants maintaining traditional values and beliefs. The geography varies from the high altitude lakes such as Titicaca to lush lowland Amazonian jungle. Bolivia retains its rich cultural identity and magnificent Andean landscapes. La Paz, the highest capital city in the world, looks over a moonlike landscape with only a hint of vegetation, but the life and colour of the city is found in its Indian population. Street market stalls sell woven fabrics and traditional remedies while the great city squares offer incredible examples of colonial architecture. Bolivia is a country unlike any other.
