Circuit 4

Argentina- Bolivia- Peru

Small group departure

14 Oct 2011

This exciting 19-day adventure crosses the continent. Commencing in Buenos Aires, the city of tango, and finishing in Lima, founded in 1535 and known then as the ‘City of the Kings’.
After visiting the sites of Buenos Aires and experiencing this cosmopolitan city, transfer to the magnificent Iguassu Falls for two nights. Then, by air, transfer to Salta, located in the centre of the Argentinean winelands. After seeing this colonial city and tasting some of the exquisite wines of the region, the journey continues north into Bolivia, a landlocked country high on the Andean Altiplano. Here the soaring, snow-capped mountain peaks, the desolate salt lakes and incredible landscapes of the Altiplano are sure to leave lasting memories. After visiting La Paz, the world’s highest capital city, we cross Lake Titicaca to Copacabana, Puno and on to Cuzco, the major centre of the Incas. A full day excursion by First Class train and bus takes you to Machu Picchu. After returning to Cuzco with a leisure day to explore the Indian market, fly to Lima for your return or onward flight.

images/India.jpg
Wherever you go, India conjures up images of colourfully dressed people, religious festivals, a strong and unique culture, temples and historic, fortified cities. But you should add excellent food, sand dunes and royal palaces, the beauty of the Himalayan Mountains, cloistered Buddhist communities, wildlife sanctuaries with elephant and tiger.

The most enduring aspect of India, brought back and retained in the memory of visitors long after they return, is of the people. They are warm, friendly, and happy to welcome you to their country. There are over one billion people living on the sub-continent. They speak many languages and belong to several cultural groups, they practice Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Jainism and Judaism. And they'll be happy to meet you.

India is one of the world's most diverse countries. You will find snow-covered peaks of the world's highest mountains on its doorstep, but also some of the world's driest deserts. From modern, if crowded, cities to simple local communities. From scarred and historic  fortifications to graceful British colonial architecture. From frenetic city streets and bazaars to ashrams where you may learn to meditate in peaceful surroundings.

Nothing can prepare you for India. it is a destination you have to experience to believe.
